2021 - Italy
Bergamo - Mortirolo - Aprica - Como - Bergamo
A short but unforgettable 2 days cycling trip through northern Italy, combining brutal climbs with spectacular mountain and lake scenery.
Day 1: The first 100 km were enjoyable but traffic-heavy, followed by the Mortirolo Pass, the hardest climb I had ever done. The effort was rewarded with stunning mountain views and a much quieter alternative descent.
Day 2: After the exhaustion of Mortirolo, I chose Lake Como and the mountains instead of another huge climb. The day felt almost dreamlike—forests, mountains, lakes, swans, valleys, beautiful towns, cycling paths, gelato, and breathtaking views. So many photos. Despite thunderstorms being forecast, no rain happened though. Many stops -> arriving after dark.
Last day: A relaxed morning exploring Città Alta in Bergamo, followed by coffee, sightseeing, cheese shopping. I rushed to the airport, dismantled and packed the bike in 15 minutes, and arrived in Israel—unfortunately without the bike, which was left behind (I was reunited with it later)
